NEWPORT–Jade Piette scored four minutes into overtime to give the UCA girls (2-7-2) their second victory of the season, a 3-2 win over Concord (2-7-1).
"I feel amazing," said coach Molly Smith. "These girls gave us everything. Now we are on a two game winning streak and this is my team."
The Lady Crusaders were the aggressors early in the contest, dominating the first half.
Amy DeLaBruere, who has ben playing both up front and back on defense this year, scored the first UCA goal in the thirtieth minute of the half.
"Amy was amazing as usual and we can always rely on her," said Smith. "I also have a give a lot of credit to Hannah Piette and Nicole Guest
Eight minutes later, Concord looked to tie things up, but keeper Lydia Samaan kept the score at 1-0, stopping a breakaway chance.
Inspired by the big save, the Crusaders promptly went back down the field and made it 2-0 on Laura Libby's high far-post shot.
In the second half the match evened out, and Concord tied things up, forcing overtime.
UCA had the momentum in the extra session and Piette took a feed from Andreanna Andrews and banged home the winner.
"It was totally a team effort," Piette said. "If I hadn't got an assist from Andreanna I wouldn't have gotten it."
Lydia Samaan stopped six shots for UCA while Casey DeGreenia had nine for Concord.
The girls are back at it today, as Rochester comes to town for a 4:00 match
