NEWPORT–A much better looking North Country girls basketball team took to the court on Tuesday night to square off against the BFA Comets. Although they did not get the win, dropping the contest 57-45, it was a greatly improved showing from last week's match with CVU.
"I am really proud of the fight that the girls showed," said NCU coach Christiane Brown. "It is not like we are two fighters in the ring, but when someone throws that first punch, are you going to lay down or are you going to get up and say is that your best shot, and the girls stood up and I am proud of them."
Desiree Coffin was the only Falcon to score in all four quarters and led North Country with thirteen points. Nicole Therrien really had a nice performance, earning a double-double with her ten point, ten rebound game.
Morgan Greene had seven rebounds to go along with her eight points.
Lauren Larose had fifteen for 6-5 BFA to lead all scorers.
In the early game, the JV girls picked up a 58-49 win over the junior Comets.
Now the 4-6 Falcons will travel to Burlington to take on the Seahorses Friday night at 6:30.
