MORGAN – Nearly one year ago, the residents of Morgan decided to close the school and tuition the students out. What to do with the building still remains up in the air.
The Morgan School Board of Directors held a meeting Tuesday evening to discuss the matter. The meeting was held at the State Police barracks in Derby because the school is too cold for a meeting.
Homer Selby, who is chairing the committee on what to do with the building, made a presentation on the information he has complied regarding options for the space, such as the building's appraised value and needed repairs. He also discussed potential options for the school such as using it as a community center, moving the town offices to the location, or leasing or selling the building. This information will also be presented at Town Meeting. But what will actually become of the space will be discussed in further detail at a later date.
