ORLEANS COUNTY – Even with the big snow storm, spring has arrived, and once the days start going above the 32 degree mark, it's a special time for many.
Sugar makers across the state are opening their doors to the public this weekend to give everyone an opportunity to see how Vermont’s coveted product is made. The event is the annual Vermont Maple Open House weekend.
Several producers are off to an early start this year – some began boiling at the end of February, breaking the record for earliest production. All they need is cold nights and warmer than freezing days and the sap begins to flow.
