NEWPORT CITY – The first impression most employers get of prospective job candidates comes during the initial job interview. The whole process can be quite intimidating, especially for those newly entering the workforce from high school.
For 127 North Country Career Center students, that whole process became less frightening Wednesday, during Senior Interview Day, now in its 19th year.
To receive a certificate of completion from the North Country Career Center, all students must go through the mock interview process with a local business leader. For part of the interview, each student must present a portfolio that he or she has spent the last two years assembling. The portfolio contains a resume, cover letter, follow up letter, a letter of reference, a sample job application, state competencies, three work samples and a reflective essay on what led the student to that study, what they did during that study and where they feel the study will take them.
