NEWPORT–The Falcons and Lady Rangers rekindled their tennis rivalry on Wednesday afternoon, squaring off on the courts of Prouty Beach.
North Country was forced to forfeit both the number 5 singles and the number 2 doubles, spotting Lake Region to the early 2-0 lead.
With much ground to cover, the Falcons got down to business.
India Bluett and Brianna Fontaine battled all the way to the tiebreaker, with Bluett emerging as the victor, 6-2, 4-6, 12-10.
Danielle Therrien bested Judit Simon 6-4, 7-5, and Meira Buck had the third NCU singles win, defeating Shaylyn Beaton 6-0, 6-1.
Lake Region scored their only non-forfeit win when Alyssa Lawson beat Kathryn Daigle 6-4, 6-2.
The Falcons would take the lone doubles contest, as Hallie Lyon and Kaitlyn Young went over Rochelle Cotnoir and Tay Turner, 7-6 (10-8), 6-3.
NCU's next match was supposed to be at home this Saturday, but it has been canceled. Instead, their next opponent is U-32, who they will travel to face on Monday.
Lake Region hosts BFA St. Albans this Friday at 3:30.
