THETFORD–Going into the Vermont State Cross Country Championships, the Falcons, much like every other school in attendance, were looking to have a good a showing.
Knowing that they had the potential to do some really good things, a confident North Country squad took to the trail and came away with some fantastic results.
For the Falcon boys, Sam Brunnette stayed true to form, finishing 6th in the state (4th in Division I) with a time of 17:09.4.
Alex Cotnoir (17:40.7) came in 20th overall (11th in D I) and right behind him in 20th place (12th in D I) was Andrew Franklin with a time of 17.49.1.
With gutsy performances by Ross DeLaBruere (47th in D I, 79th overall, 19:01.3) and Alex Cope ( 48th in D I 81st overall, 19:01.6) the entire boys team qualified for New England's as they finished 4th in Division I and 5th overall.
On the girls side, Avery Ellis' magical season continued as she crossed the line with a time of 21:09.9, putting her 15th overall (14th in D I).
Ellis too will make the journey with the boys team to New England's at Derryfield Park in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The other top-six scorers for the Falcon girls were Emma Stuart (24:23.3), Jade Dandurand (25:32.5), Rachel Petzoldt (25:36.3), Maggie Stuart (26:43.8) and Gabriela Fort (27:18.6).
Now, Ellis and the boys team will have a couple of weeks to prepare before New England's, which will be held on November 9th
