LOWELL – Neighbors of the Lowell Wind project Shirley and Don Nelson want continuous sound monitoring to measure the noise coming from the facility. The Nelsons have complained of noise from the site, and have been compiling a list of effects in a journal. On about two occasions last year noise levels went slightly above the sound limits set by the Vermont Public Service Board (PSB). According to PSB information, the levels above the limits were so low it was beyond human detection. However the Nelsons believe the levels are often louder than permitted at other times as well when the required periodic monitoring is not taking place, and have set up their own sound monitoring equipment.
