COVENTRY – Plans are underway by Bill Stenger and business partners to develop the Newport State Airport in Coventry. The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is holding a public hearing on the proposals Thursday December 19 at 6 p.m. at the Coventry Community Center. According to the public notice, VTrans is considering the proposed plans. The meeting will provide an update for the public and government officials and allow for questions to be answered.
Airport improvement and expansion plans call for a 1,000 foot runway extension with a parallel taxiing lane, a manufacturing facility, an improved terminal and new hangars and warehouses.
The state is also taking comments in writing.
