NEWPORT CITY - As the holiday season ramps up green houses that are used to grow plants convert to wreath manufacturing buildings. And at this time of year a new economy takes shape with hundreds of people throughout the Northeast Kingdom making wreaths, garland, swags, kissing balls, and centerpieces, or cutting brush for cash.

Robert and Jill Gosselin purchased the business in 2002, where Jill had already been working for several decades.
“We were looking for something to do on our own, I was working at Pick and Shovel at the time but Tim and Doug weren’t interested in selling,” recalls Robert. “Then Doug and Vivian (Spates) approached us. It was a surprise.”
The business continues to flourish and at this time of year, it’s all about the greens.
