JAY-One year removed from coming within a goal of winning the Division II State Championship, the North Country girls hockey team finds themselves in a whole new world.
With two years of success after several trying seasons, it was deemed appropriate to move the program to Division I, a division that has seen just two teams become state champions (BFA St. Albans, Essex) since the league's inception.
Adding to the challenges of playing in DI, the Falcons will be without one of their top defensemen from last season, Emily Doty, who opted not to play in order to fully recover from an injury sustained earlier this year.
That will force coach Claude Paul to do a lot of shuffling around in order to compete with the best teams the state of Vermont has to offer.
To see what his plan will be, see the Express on Wednesday 12-4-13.
