MONTPELIER–The North Country Falcons field hockey team kept their winning streak rolling on Saturday, as they picked up a shut-out win over the Montpelier Solons on Saturday afternoon.
"It was a great game," said NC coach Chantelle Bouchard. "There was quite a bit of rain falling, but we dominated the whole game. It was a huge team effort."
Kaitlyn Young scored in the first half to open up the scoring and giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Adrianna Fournier had the assist on the goal.

Brunnette Takes First Place at Burlington Invitational

September 15, 2014

Reporting for NCU cross country at the Burlington Invitational at not-so-sunny North Beach in Burlington, VT.
The day started with overcast skies, light winds and temps in the 50s that changed to drizzle by the boys varsity race (And then let go with a steady rain following the award ceremony).
Note on the course – it was advertised as a “fast and flat” course – it left out the half-mile hill at the start of the race, a gravel hill stretch and the fact that the course was a bit long this year, so basically not so fast nor flat.

Second Half Scoring Sends Falcons Past Vikings

September 11, 2014

NEWPORT–After a slow start in the first half, the North Country field hockey team picked up their pace in the second and went on the attack, scoring two goals in twenty-three minutes to pick up the 2-0 win over the Lyndon Institute Vikings.
"We finally woke up," said NCU coach Chantelle Bouchard, referring to the difference in play between the first and the second half. "They were real flat in the beginning and we just could not get anything in the goal."
As the coach said, things were a little flat in the first half.

Brunnette, Ellis Win at Inaugural Kingdom Cup XC Meet

September 10, 2014

DERBY-The North Country Falcons held their annual home cross country meet on Wednesday afternoon, but this year it came with a little twist.
Known in years past as just the home cross country meet, this year the team re-branded the event as the Kingdom Cup.
"The Kingdom Cup is a lead in to leagues," said NCU coach Chris Shaffer. "We needed more competition up here and it is great to have more numbers for competition. Hopefully we can keep this tradition going."
With the re-branding came a new course design that will allow for a little more flexibility with course length.
