Lake Region Struggles to Get Balls on Net, Loses to Peoples

September 16, 2014

ORLEANS–The Lake Region Lady Rangers put their undefeated streak on the line when they hosted the Peoples Academy Wolves on Wednesday afternoon.
It would be a challenging afternoon for the Lady Rangers, as they are pretty banged up and were forced to move a lot of players around to unfamiliar positions.
With that being said, the Wolves would be one goal better on this day, and the Lady Rangers lost their first match of the season 2-1.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Continues to Plague NCU Athletics, UPDATED

September 16, 2014

NEWPORT-The outbreak of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease continues to be a problem for the North Country athletic department.
Tuesday’s varsity soccer games against the Lyndon Institute Vikings have been canceled, as have the jv games scheduled for Wednesday.
Wednesday’s varsity field hockey game against Milton has also been canceled.
No make-up dates for any of the contests have been announced as of this writing.
The games were canceled because the visiting schools did not want to send their kids up to Newport for fear of catching the highly contagious disease.

Brunnette Takes First Place at Burlington Invitational

September 15, 2014

Reporting for NCU cross country at the Burlington Invitational at not-so-sunny North Beach in Burlington, VT.
The day started with overcast skies, light winds and temps in the 50s that changed to drizzle by the boys varsity race (And then let go with a steady rain following the award ceremony).
Note on the course – it was advertised as a “fast and flat” course – it left out the half-mile hill at the start of the race, a gravel hill stretch and the fact that the course was a bit long this year, so basically not so fast nor flat.
