Lake Region 1 Defeats North Country 10-4

The Lake Region Babe Ruth 1 Team came away with a convincing 10–4 win over Newport on Tuesday night thanks to timely hitting, good solid defense and strong pitching from Denver Bodette.
Newport had one bad inning, the third, where they gave up 7 unearned runs on physical & mental errors that lead to there down fall.
A bright spot for Newport was the pitching of Caleb Lanoue and T.J. Santaw, with both pitchers striking out 5 of 6 batters in 2 innings of work. Newport faces Lyndonville at home on Thursday, with Lake Region 1 facing Lake Region 2 on the same day.
Game time is 6:00.

Glover Red Sox Win Cal Ripken Majors’ Championship

June 17, 2013

GLOVER–Under threatening skies and over a partially mown field, the Glover Red Sox and the Derby Tigers squared off for the Orleans County Cal Ripken Majors’ Championship last Thursday.
Derby would score first, but Glover's bats could not be stopped, as they came away with the 8-1 win and the championship trophy.

Atchinson Honored With Prouty Beach Tennis Court Naming

NEWPORT–Gary Atchinson is to tennis in Newport as Ted Williams is to baseball in Boston.
That is why it was to the delight of many that on Saturday morning friends, family members, colleagues, tennis players and former students alike gathered at Prouty Beach, as the tennis courts were named The Gary Atchinson Tennis Courts at Prouty Beach.

Otter Valley Sends Rangers Home for the Season

BRANDON–Lake Region's baseball season came to a close last week, as the 7th seed lost to the number two seed Otter Valley Otters 6-0 in quarterfinal play.
Despite the second round loss, coach Eric Degre was pleased with his team's season, posting on the Rangers website, "It was a great baseball season for the Rangers! Well done men!"
Otter Valley got off to the fast start, touching Ranger starter Matt Messier for a pair of runs in the first.
The Otters would slowly add to their lead, scoring again in the second, once in the fourth, and twice in the fifth.
