Brighton And Charleston Reject Merger Proposal

Five voters in two towns chose a unified district. 110 voters in Charleston and all 51 voters in Brighton gave a thumbs down to the proposal.

The elementary school districts in Brighton and Charleston sent a clear message to the Board of Education on Wednesday evening rejecting a proposal to merge school districts. Charleston and Brighton may join in a lawsuit with dozens of other school districts to challenge the Board if it remains firm in the decision to merge the school districts.
