NEWPORT CITY – Some of the best high school musicians from throughout the area will perform Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at the Northeastern Vermont Music Festival. The festival, now in its 69th year, is sponsored by the Newport Rotary Club and will be held at North Country Union High School.About 175 students from a dozen high schools are participating in the music festival. Participating schools include: Danville High School, North Country Union High School, Lamoille Union High School, Lake Region Union High School, St. Johnsbury Academy, Lyndon Institute, Blue Mountain Union High School, Peoples Academy, Hazen Union High School, Stowe High School, Canaan High School, and Craftsbury Academy.The students arrived in Newport yesterday and practiced all day.
