Falcons, Hilltoppers Square Off in Two Team Dual Meet

ST. JOHNSBURY–North Country's track and field team made their way down I-91 to go head-to-head with the St. Johnsbury Hilltoppers on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon.The Hilltoppers and Falcons were the only two teams at the track on a busy sports Wednesday, and according to coach Lonnie Wade, it was a great chance to get the young Falcons acclimated to the sport."The meet went well overall," said Wade. "We are young so it was good to get many of the kids some experience."The strongest performance of the day went to Falcons female throwing team, as they swept the top three spots in the discuss and shot-put.Jenna Moss took first place, with Crystal Moss in second, and Cassidy Webster in third in the discus, with Cassidy and Jenna going 1-2 in the shot, with Ellie Searles in third.Other strong performances include: Britni Jewer and Morgan Greene tied for 1st, 100 meter dash, Brian DeLaBruere, 2nd in the 100m, Connor Hogan, 2nd 400m, Haley Jo Tetreault 1st, 800m, Ross DeLaBruere, 1st 800m, Sam Brunnette 2nd, 1500m, Ben Dillner 2nd, 3000, Chandler Prue, 2nd 100m Hurdles, 2nd in girls 4X100m relay, 2nd in girls 4X400m relay, 2nd in boys 4X400m relay, Phoenix Alix 3rd high jump, Chandler Prue 2nd, pole vault, Laura Smith 1st, Morgan Greene, 3rd long jump, Laura Smith, 2nd triple jump, Nicholas Perkins, 2nd Discus, 3rd Shot, Morgan Greene, Stanley Hunter 1st, Myrriah Gonyaw 2nd, Javelin. The freshman have a meet back at the Academy on Tuesday and Varsity team will host their first meet of the year next Friday. Both will start at 3:30.
