Harry L. Burnham

January 19, 1941-November 29, 2011Harry L. Burnham, 70, of Barton died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at North Country Hospital in Newport following a brief illness.He was born in Barton, January 19, 1941, the son of George Burnham and Annie Stone Burnham. He was raised by his mother, Annie, and her husband Albert Mason. He attended school in Albany and served his country in the US Army. Harry lived in Brookfield, MA prior to returning to Albany in the late 1970’s. He was employed at Barton Motors for many years as an auto mechanic.  He then established his own business, Burnham Boat Slings, making and selling accessories for sculling boats and later had a woodworking shop in Albany. January 19, 1941-November 29, 2011Harry enjoyed the outdoors, if he saw a mountain he had to climb it.  He loved tenting on the mountains with his sons, deer hunting, fishing, in later years had worked for the State of Vermont as a guide for moose hunting and doing moose counts.  He played mens softball for several years and in recent years enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.  For the past few years, he had made his home at the senior apartments in Barton where he was blessed with loving and caring friends. He leaves 2 sons: Michael and his partner Gina Miller of Holland and Douglas and his wife Mary of Irasburg; a daughter Paula Cote of Newport; 2 sisters: Carol Carey and her husband Louis and Gail Paquette and her husband Tom, both of Massachusetts; 8 grandchildren: Morgan and Eythan Burnham; Eric and Sarah Burnham; Robert and Jonathan Cote; and Alex and Benjamin Duranleau. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, George, and his daughter, Mellissa Tinker, who died October 22nd. A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 4th at 2 p.m. at the Albany Village Cemetery, with Pastor Nathan Strong officiating.  Contributions may be made to Barton Chamber Apartments, Activities, PO Box 248, Barton, VT  05822.  The Malcolm R.
