BRIGHTON – Island Pond may be home to a new maple sap processing business. The Brighton Development Review Board unanimously approved a permit for a maple business. Business officials from Bernard’s Maple of Saint-Victor, Quebec, are working on ironing out the details with the town before getting to the final decision.   The 15,000-square-foot building on Meadow Street in Island Pond has been empty for more than five years and now the Canadian maple business is interested. The building was owned by Bobby Miller and used for the former workers of the Ethan Allen plant to run their own business, which lasted a few years. Miller then gave the building to the town.
