Nordic Falcons Compete Hard in Freestyle Championships

JERICHO–The 2012 Vermont Div. 1 and 2 Nordic freestyle championship races were held on Friday Feb. 24, 2012 at the Ethan Allen Training Site, and were hosted by CVU, CHS and MMU. The individual races were held in the morning, and the Falcon girls tied for eighth place with 142 points, while the boys finished in twelfth, scoring a 235.For the girls, Haley-Jo Tetreault was the top finisher, coming in 28th, followed in by Lindsay Cotnoir (30th), Stephanie Wilson, who had to race with only one pole for a portion of the race as her own pole snapped in two just five seconds into the event was 36th, Erika Fortin (48th), Jade Dandurand (63rd), Adele Woodmansee (66th), Laura Smith (78th), and Jordan Howell (81st).The girls sent Tetreault, Cotnoir, Watson, and Fortin out for the relay in the afternoon, and as the snow began to fall, the girls wrapped up their race with an overall time of 34:51.5, coming in ninth.In the boys race there was no surprise that Brian DeLaBruere, who has been the boys top racer this season, had the best finish, coming in 52nd.He was followed by Alex Cotnoir (58th), Jon Trembley (60th), Sam Brunnette (65th), Alexander Charboneau (80th), Trevor Howell (82nd), and Harry Foster (83rd).The boy's relay team featured DeLaBruere, Brunnette, Foster, and Cotnoir, and they came in a little quicker than the girls, finishing in 34:25.6, which was good enough for twelfth.Next up is a trip to Grafton today for the State Classic Championship to wrap up the season.
