Students “Interact” With Area Businesses

NEWPORT - The Northeast Kingdom Rotary Interact Club was recently formed at North Country High School to introduce students to the leadership experiences and support of the Rotary Clubs of America. The name Northeast Kingdom Rotary Interact Club was chosen following inquiries from parents asking about the eligibility of students from Lake Region and the United Christian Academy who wanted to join the Newport Rotary-sponsored club.Membership in the club is open to students from other area schools and any parent or student wishing information may contact either one of the advisors at North Country. Members of the student-driven organization are already brain storming ideas for community service projects and will be meeting every other Friday until the end of the school year. May 11th, members will be visiting Jay Peak where Bill Stenger, Tina Bliss, Betsy Hampton and Don Whipple will discuss business and community service experiences. Also attending the meeting will be District Rotary Interact Chairperson Jay Polimeno and District Rotary Governor Marilyn Bedell.
