Sun Devils Avenge Earlier Loss, Defeat Rays 12-6

LYNDON–The Lake Region Sun Devils 16-U girls softball team extracted a bit of revenge Friday night, posting a 12-6 victory over the Lyndon Rays.Earlier in the week these same two clubs locked horns in Orleans, with the Rays coming away with the 11-9 win. But this time around, the Sun Devils rode the pitching of Michelle Thibeault and Hannah Leroux to garner their third victory on the summer season, with Thibeault racking up 8 strikeouts and allowing just 4 hits in five innings of work, before Leroux picked up the save, fanning four batters in two innings of relief.Thibeault and Leroux were also the hitting stars for the Sun Devils, with Thibeault smacking three doubles and Leroux cracking a pair of hits as well. A consistent LR offense saw them score in 6 of the 7 innings of play.Alyssa Royer aided the Sun Devil offense, reaching base four times via hit or walk.The Sun Devils are back in action tonight as they host the Lyndon Athletics.
