UCA Wraps up Season in Richford

RICHFORD–To end the season, the UCA boys pulled out all the stops for their game against Richford.“I can honestly say that each and every one of them played the best game of the season,” said Coach DeLaBruere With Dale Martell out due to a Concussion from their game in Canaan on Tuesday, the Crusaders went to Richford with an 11 man roster. Chris DeLaBruere once again had a stand out performance in the net including a few saves that would make any highlight reel. The boys went into half with a 1-0 lead on a beautiful unassisted goal by Ji Kim and a total of 25 shots on net the first half for the Crusaders. 2nd half action began with another goal by Ji Kim to bring the score to 2-0. Unfortunately for UCA, Richford countered with 2 goals in rapid succession to tie the game at 2-2. The two teams battled it out for 24 minutes tied up. “Each of my players gave everything they had and more on the field today, I've never seen a group of guys want the win more than they did,” said the coach. Much to the dismay of the Crusaders, Richford came up with the win with a last minute goal to go up 3-2. Says DeLaBruere, “Though the scoreboard didn't reflect it, this game was a win in my book....and a sneak peak of what is to come next year.”The team will not be heading to the play-offs this season and will say good bye to their two departing seniors, Isaac LaFoe and Edward Wang.
