Veterans Day Comes With Strong Message

Staff Writer

“For generations, men and women of the American Armed Forces have demonstrated their willingness to put country before themselves,” Michael Choquette, state commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, told a gathering of community members during Newport’s Veteran’s Day program held at the municipal building Friday morning. “Patriots who served for the greater good and don’t seek glory or recognition for personal gain. Today we honor them, today is their day.”

Veteran’s Day is for all veterans, even if they never leave their stateside camps, said Choquette. People around the world are thankful for the service of the veterans. Veterans ask for nothing in return for their service except to be able to live with dignity and respect. (Click for more photos. Read more Monday in the Express)
