Ways And Means Considers Lowering Property Taxes

The Vermont House Ways and Means Committee is considering a proposal to reduce the homestead property tax rate by 40 percent. The committee is considering dedicating all sales tax revenues to the education fund. Currently 36 percent of the revenues offset education costs. Vice Chair Sam Young said the committee is also considering transferring $100 million in general fund revenues among other revenue sources. Read more in the Newport Daily Express.
