NEWPORT CITY – The former Main Street businessman directed to pay an $850 civil penalty for not enforcing the state’s COVID-19 mask mandate doesn’t intend to take the sanction lying down.

Andre “Mike” Desautels, owner of Derby Port Press  (formerly the Newport UPS Store)  said he intends to appeal the ruling to the Vermont Supreme Court.
